What this site is
Cinder & Flask publishes written procedures and diagrams for chemistry that can be carried out at a domestic bench. It is an educational reference. It is not a laboratory, not a school, not a professional safety authority, and it does not supervise anything you do.
Safety is your responsibility
Every card carries a safety grade and a difficulty tier, and the grades are explained on the safety page. Those labels are a summary, not a guarantee. You are responsible for your own bench, your own equipment, the people around you, and any children or pets in the space. Do not run a procedure you do not understand, do not scale a procedure up, and do not substitute a material unless the card says what happens when you do. If a step in a card conflicts with the label on a container in your kitchen, the label wins.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site is medical, legal or professional safety advice. If someone is injured, contact emergency services. Do not write to us first.
Accuracy and corrections
We test every procedure and try to keep quantities, timings and temperatures accurate. Even so, results depend on your ingredients and equipment, and the site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. If something is wrong, tell us at [email protected] and we will correct it.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for damage to property, injury, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or from attempting any procedure described on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Intellectual property
The text, the drawn diagrams and the arrangement of this site belong to Cinder & Flask. You may read, print and use a card at home, and you may quote a step or an observation with a link back to the site. You may not republish cards in bulk, resell the content, or present it as your own. Diagram files may not be redistributed as stock imagery.
Third-party links and advertising
The site carries display advertising and links to outside websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their products or their privacy practices. How advertising cookies work here is described in the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it in bulk, or use its content to train a model that reproduces it verbatim. Do not use the site to give the impression that we endorse a product or a service.
Changes
